New Look

Hey I just wanna give a ya a heads up guys, and I do apologize for the inconvenience. I was getting so tired of the blog’s old look ; it felted so drab that I decided to change the theme in order to make it fresh and interesting. However, due to compatibly kinks and what not, some of the older entries which I published in different colored font did not conform to the new theme and some things are whited out. That means that if any entry should look like it’s missing something just highlight it  with your mouse and it should be visible. My schedule permitting, I will gradually try my best to go over stuff and try to restore it.  As always thnx a million for being superchido  and showing interest in the blog and all things chido. ENJOYNESS MUCH!♥

Novela Time =)

New Novela time! That’s right “Soy Tu Dueña” is about to premiere this Tuesday on Univision. The word dueña literally means :proprietress, owner. The Novela’s title references  the character being a boss,  and at the same time also connotes meanings such as “you’re mine” or “you’re  my man”

SOY TU DUEñA TRAILER

“In the end it turns out that in life you’re all alone and you can’t even trust those whom you love the most”– Quote from the trailer

PLOT(From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soy_tu_dueña)

Valentina Villalba (Lucero) is a woman to whom life seems good in every way, because she owns  great beauty and a fortune that her parents left to her when they died. She has a mansion in Mexico City, where she lives with her aunt Isabel (Silvia Pinal) and her cousin Ivana (Gabriela Spanic), who is very envious of Valentina.

Everything changes for Valentina when her fiance, Alonso (David Zepeda), in league with Ivana, leaves her at the altar. That’s when she becomes a desperate, bitter woman who chooses to isolate herself and go live in the hacienda ‘Los Cascabeles’, where she meets her neighbor Jose Miguel (Fernando Colunga). The people of the region hate her, because her foreman, Rosendo (Sergio Goyri) commits things in her name, and they call her ‘The Viper’.

CAST

The thing which I’m most excited about when it comes to “Soy Tu Dueña” is getting to see super smexy David Zepeda again! I haven’t seen him since “Acorralada”= Cornered a Venezuelan Novela  in which he played Alejandro Salvatierra. “Soy tu Dueña” should be very interesting as it is filled with  Novela vets know for unforgettable roles such as: Gaby Spanic, known for her duel roles in “La Usurpadora” = The Usurper , and Fernando Colugna “Amor Real”.  The protagonist in the story is none other than Mexico’s sweetheart, singer/actress Lucero who’s know for many novelas, and  has done a great job portraying both heroines and a villainesses for example her roles in “Lazos de Amor” = Love ties &  “Mañana es para Siempre” = Tomorrow is Forever.  Sergio Goyri is also featured in this drama, he is always a formidable villain.  This drama promises to entertain viewers with: ardent passion, pulse pounding drama, and stunning betrayal, as well as the chance to admire the gorgeous beauty that is  Mexico’s natural scenery.

Keeping your identity alive

It’s a shame to see the attack on diversity and culture that has risen as of late in a country that is the epitome of just that. It is disgraceful to see instead of an effort to  nurture and encourage such a beautiful thing to flourish, efforts to suppress and extinguish it.  I think in the wake of all this more than ever there are those who are getting in touch with their roots, and sadly there is also the inverse, those who want to deny and forget them.  However long before, the practice of parents choosing not to teach their  kids their native language &  the influence of English on other cultures and languages has existed.  Instead of creativity increasing especially for slang which is the most original and colloquial form of expression in a culture, people choose to borrow and copy words from English. What I mean is, it becomes a style to use non native words when clearly a word in the native language exists. It’s almost as if the sentiment is ” our language is not interesting, special, cool enough.” It’s a way of devaluing and underestimating our mother tongue, giving up on it almost. I also try to steer clear of messy synthesizing.  I for one am not a fan of  Spanglish. I think it just sounds tacky. It’s great to be bilingual, but it’s even better when you can speak a language appropriately. What I’m trying to say can be better illustrated in this awesome  article about the death of languages.  I think it explains in a very wonderful way the beauty of culture and language and the need to pass it on, venerate it, keep it alive.

Artists Call To Boycott Arizona

It’s not about breaking or protecting the law it’s about breeding ill will amongst communities. These “United States” politicians are propagating and heralding division. It’s completely oxymoronic to say that there are no ill intentions behind the laws emerging as of late in Arizona. Bottom line:  whether you’re out there personally slinging racial slurs and committing hate crimes or giving people a thumbs up and a green flag  for such sentiments in the form of “legislation”it all amounts to the same thing = obtuse thinking. These so called heroes and patriotic protectors are after all politicians and if it’s one thing politicians are good at, it’s underestimating the public and believing that they are especially easy to manipulate  in times of crisis .  The obscuring of facts and  fear mongering are they’re choice of weapons.

SHOW US YOUR PAPERS AND THEN WE’LL STILL DEPORT YOU

As long as you have your papers everything will be ok. People are overacting and propogating false fears. Here’s how false our suspicious and fears of SB 1070 were. Even though he clearly presented his papers ( ID and birth certificate) a Chicago man was detained for three days.

Seattle becomes 11th city to boycott Arizona

“Yesterday, the Seattle City Council unanimously voted to boycottArizona by ending official city travel there and resolving, when practical, to cut off future contracts with Arizona-based businesses. That makes Seattle the 11th city to endorse a boycott of the state in opposition to its controversial immigration law. Five of the boycotting cities are in California: Los Angeles tops the list as the biggest, and its boycott could deliver the most painful blow to Arizona’s economy, as the city has $58 million in existing contracts with Arizona companies, according to the L.A. Times.

In pending city votes, some members of Dallas’s city council are considering a boycott, along with the municipal governments in

Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Berkeley, California.”
