What Spanish Speakers are watching: Funny commercials

If you tune in to the Spanish tv stations, chances are you’ve seen this commercial. For those who have not, glad to share it with you guys. It’s a Degree ad featuring Andrés Guardado from team Mex/ left midfielder with Deportivo La Coruña, Spanish League.

(For more info on Andrés: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9s_Guardadohttp://www.goal.com/en/teams/spain/127/deportivo

The commercial’s storyline is simple, yet very silly & entertaining : Some crazy fans break into Andrés’s home and snatch his deodorant.  Andrés swears by his Degree & can’t do without it, so… The chase begins! Throughout the commercial the whole city unites for one goal: Successfully  play keep away with Andrés’s deodorant xD Why? Because the products slogan is : “Players should sweat, fans shouldn’t”

ORIGINAL COMMERCIAL

BEHIND THE SCENES :

Lol at Andrés driving the forklift. His driving it has nothing to do with the ad, but I bet he asked the director if he could and of course, how could they refuse? =)

ANDRES’S STUNT DOUBLE

Ha! The stunt guy has a twin, so Andres says, “so now there’s 3 Andrés Guardados” Funny.

Soulful Mexicans

Just heard on Twitter that the 1st song “Besame” (Kiss Me)  is doing really well on the charts & I had heard talk about it before, but just hadn’t gotten around to listening to it. I finally listened to it and it’s really good, very romantic song.  Once again Camila makes it on to the blog with this live performance of the song. These guys are so talented! They’re brilliant composers and awesome musicians. Song number two is a song I found and knew instantly I had to share. This girl’s got some killer vocals. She’s classy, she’s jazzy what a mellow and soulful vibe.  Hope u have a romantic evening & ENJOY!

Mexican Pop Culture Icon to Cross Over

The iconic Mexican classic, a show near and dear to Mexicans, a total household name “El Chavo del Ocho” franchise is set to expand yet again. It all started with a live action comedy show back in 1971 , in 2006 an animated series ” El Chavo Animado” was released. The cartoon was produced by Roberto Gómez Fernández, son of writer/creator of  “El Chavo del Ocho” Roberto Gómez Bolaños. Gómez Fernández decided on the project as an homage to his father’s famous work, also he wished to pioneer one of the first animated series made in Mexico, based on a TV program.

The series consists of 100 episodes, and on August 26 will be entering its 4th season.  It is on the top 3 list for channel 5 on which it airs, competing with top contender Sponge Bob who has one of the best ratings among children’s programs. Now, an English version of animated “El Chavo” is next on the horrizon. 52 dubbed episodes are in the works, set to premier next year. The show’s staff are hard at work with colaborating voice over talents, and writers in figuring out just how to transmit that special, unequivocal “El Chavo” magical brand of entertainment. Due to cultural differences the staff is working on how to modify jokes, and adapt them for their new audience.

Lots of great stuff in store for the thriving franchise, the wide and positive response from the animated series gives way to an upcoming video game, set to be releases sometime in December. Along with an the release is an  El Chavo musical show set to open in December as well. The video game will be a  Nintendo DSi title with 52 mini games or “missions”. For the upcoming season: the show started with episodes based on storylines from the original live action series; the new season promises never before seen episodes and in HD.

Team Chivas’s Big Day

Yesterday was the official inauguration for team Chivas’s new home, Omnilife Stadium.  Sparkling fireworks lit up the sky, magical theatrics preformed by graceful dancers brought splendor to the ceremony, and with intense  fervor Chivas’s new anthem was introduced to the impassioned, and faithfully present fans. As spectacular as the opening ceremony was, the main event was the game that was to truly christen the field, a  Chivas vs Man U friendly.  Not only was the crowd excited to see a match between two awesome teams, but their favorite star “Chicharito”  in a tour de force was set to play a half on each side.  The first half  he played with Chivas, this was a sign of him paying his respects &  honoring: his former team, his home, his family, his  brothers,  his fans. To his people  he wanted to give a most humble, gracious, and  heartfelt “thank you”.  He played with excitement and dedication as always , but something extra was present, because he got one last chance to run alongside his comrades, on their new majestic field, sweat with them and strive  for the red and white.   This was his last game as a Chiva, this was his goodbye….  And he did not leave without a goal for his beloved Chivas.

LOL of the day

This just in: Famous Mexican Soccer League & World cup ref Marco Rodríguez better known to many as “Chiqui Marco” will be releasing his own hair styling product “Chiqui Gel.  “Chiqui Marcos?”(pronunced chee kee)  Where does that come from? For those who don’t know, the nick name is an allusion to the famous Mexican pop culture character “Chiqui Dracula” (baby, little Dracula) played by child star- turned comedian/actor  Carlos “Carlitos” Espejel on 1980’s children’s program “Chiquilladas”.   Why the nick name?  Take a look at this ref and it’s the first thing you’ll notice, there’s no missing it. Mr.Rodríguez’s  extreamly slick  choice of hair style is rather congruent with “Chiqui Dracula’s.”  “Chiqui Marco” doesn’t mind the nick name though,he embraces it, the  persona born from it, and the celebrity that comes along with it.  The gel is a hair product aimed at children, but he says he hopes that a  wide range of people will enjoy his product.  Mr.Rodríguez has confessed to using it himself.  Those working on the product hope to have it in stores all over the country (Mex) very soon.  This begs the question: Will the “Chiqui Marco” hairstyle become a fad???  Lol seriously doubt it. Cool idea for the kiddies though. If I had kids I’d buy them Chuiqui gel, but we’d use it with discretion and measure of course xD  So there it is, your daily scoop of Mexican Pop Culture, and now you’re in the know.
