Mexican Pop! Music Video of the Day

Happy Saturday here’s a fun little ditty to get your toes tapping! Song: Crazy Woman, By: Aleks Syntek  ENJOY! =)

LYRICS TRANLSATION by: MegaSuper Chido

I’m a singular case.

One that I should analyze.

Don’t know what they gave or what they did to me, but I am no longer normal.

Fate outdid itself and a prank wrung me out.

This is not my house & this is not my wife.

And this guy you see before you isn’t me.

This isn’t me.

Crazy, you looked like a crazed woman to me.

I love it when you’re crazy, come closer to me and kiss me here on the mouth.

Don’t be like that.  I love it when you tease.

You looked like a  crazy woman to me.

And come kiss me here on the…

Everything is confusion and we’re looking for salvation.

This is not my story  nor  is this my memory. I wasn’t’ me who killed you.
How to make you understand? You are not going to believe me.

This is not my bed, this is not my spectrum,  And this guy you see before you isn’t me.

Crazy, you looked like a crazed woman to me.

I love it when you’re crazy, come closer to me and kiss me here on the mouth.

Don’t be like that. I love it when you tease.

You looked crazy to me.

And come kiss me here on the….

I don’t do anything other than dance & dance.

With your sweet little face I live dreaming & Thinking .

And If you wish,  I will live fighting & fighting. I will bring out the animal instic in you

I’m a singular case. One that I should analyze.

Sing a long Friday : “Xochipitzahuatl” (traditional Mexican song)

So many beautiful things about our cultures, things that are worth: admiring, learning about and most of all  keeping alive & thriving. One of those things most definitely has to be language. In Paraguay 88% of the population speaks Guarani along with Spanish.  In Taiwan though most people speak Mandarin and the older generations are most knowledgeable when it comes to traditional Taiwanese, and though Taiwanes youngsters outside of Taiwan are a little sketchy on it,  native Taiwanese kids are still taught about it (traditional Taiwanese) and understand it a bit even if they don’t practice it as often as say their grandparents, or so I’ve heard.  So, I listen to different kinds of music and there’s this Taiwanese pop girl group I like. I totally fell in love with one of the songs off  their latest album, and  I especially  thought  it was super cool when I  heard the group recorded that particular song not in main stream Mandarin but instead in traditional Taiwanese.  This is our heritage ,our vestige…. We should take pride in these beautiful treasures. That is why in today’s post I’d like to share a traditional Mexican song. This post as they all are is  for everyone, but especially those who’d like to learn  a short little something in Nahuatl(aka Aztec).  The song is called “Xochipitzahuatl” pronounced: soh-chee-pee-tzah-hoo-wah-tahl, meaning: little flower.  This song is AKA “Flor Menudita” in Spanish.

Are these kids too COOL or what?! And such talent =D Plus they look so cute in their outfits.

It’s just a few short lines, but it something cool you can learn &   impress your friends with. Show ’em you can sing in Nahuatl!

This song is usually sung at weddings  in the Huasteca region of Mexico. From what I’ve been able to research, it is sometimes danced rather than sung. The  song is preformed for the Virgin of Guadalupe as away of asking for the event to be blessed. I’m not incredibly familiar with this song, so not sure how long the song actually is . The girls in the first vid seem to be singing more lyrics than the guy in the 2nd vid =S   Went on a hunt for the lyrics online and can not for the life of me find proper lyrics. There’s very little info online, could be that is due to the fact that the song is often know as a dance rather than a piece that is sung. I can only get little excerpts here & there, plus everyone’s version differs =(

Still so glad to see people taking pride in their roots and passing them on especially youngsters. =)  Hope you ENJOY GUYS!!

Mexican Music: Music Video of the day

Haven’t posted an MV in a while. It’s definitely time for some music. =D

Song: El Aventurero(The Adventurer) By: Pedro Fernandez . The song talks about a flirtatious playboy who likes to capture hearts where ever he goes.  Wow there’s nothing as sexy as a gentleman in a charro outfit. Seriously testosterone overload totally drool worthy.  No? Ladies?

Here’s an few lyrics excerpted from the song:

“Be on your toes darlings for your adventurer is here my honeys!”

“I am “the adventurer” the world to me matters very little , when I like a lady… I like her no matter what.”

“I like ’em tall, I like ’em short. I like ’em skinny, I like ’em chubby, the single ladies the widows & like ’em divorced too.

“I am the adventurer and to all my “mothers in law” I propose: Do take care of your daughters if you bring ’em along or I won’t be held responsible!”

“I have a troubadour & bohemian’s soul,  I am honorable and a good friend, the most honest kidder.”

Just to get ya dancing

This song is : fun, upbeat, & infections. Makes ya wanna dance. It is “banda” music. Banda music is a really popular genre with Mexican’s. Just like boybands or rappers might be a big deal and there’s a whole bunch of groups here in the U.S. it’s the same thing in Mexico with bandas.  What is banda music exactly? Banda is a brass-based form of traditional Mexican music. Bandas play a wide variety of songs, including rancheras, corridos, cumbias, baladas. Banda music is a melting pot of traditions and rhythms. It is composed of : Traditional Mexican rhythms , German polka, some Latin American style flavors, and even some Jazz influence , just to name a few. Mexico has adapted all these styles and made music all its own, the unique Banda flavor!  This type of music celebrates the culture of the mountain ranges and desserts, which are areas that have a very cowboy kinda history.

This song is called : El Mechon. The Band’s name is : Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga. Meaning, Sergio Lizarraga’s MS band from Sinaloa(Sianloa is one of the 31Mexican States located in the northwestern part of the country). LOL it’s a long name, I know…. but there’s a reason behind that. Bandas are groups that are around for years and years. Once founded they are kept alive by passing on the torch to new members. In order to preserve the history and pride of the band a good name must be chosen, and often times in honor of its founder, his name is included in the band’s name. The song’s name means ” The Lock of hair” it’s talking about a guy who wants to look cool will he travels and parties, so he wants to change his image by using something that’s become popular, instead of dying your hair you use a hair clip with dyed hair extensions. LOL & basically that’s what the whole song’s about.  It’s just fun and random like that.

This song was a big dance hit recently, as many banda songs are. Each year a new song is chosen as the dance hit of the season, because it gets big either in the dance clubs, or at parties, especially weddings and Quinceañeras. Often times the songs come a long with a special dance, so the “something” dance will be a trend for the year that a specific song was popular.

Honest truth, this song got on my nerves in the beginning, but my mom & brother love it. They kept playing it and singing it, I kept hearing it on the radion, and on TV… and well in the end it just grew on me.

Music video for SONG: Lips that are shared, BAND: Mana

SONG TRANSLATION:

My love I am under the spell of the rhythm of your legs.  I am hypnotized and drowned in the sway of your hips. This is heaven. This my heaven.  A love that’s escaped.  You take me, you leave me, you ring me out, then toss me aside.  You travel to other skies then return like the hummingbirds do.  You have me like a dog at your feet.

Again my foolish mouth land on your skin.  Your mouth returns and provokes me. Again I fall from your bosom to your two feet.  Lips that are shared, lips that are divided my love. I can not share your lips. I share in the deception. I share my days & my pain. But I can no longer share your lips. Oh my love my shared love.

Mutant love. Friends with benefits, but not the right to have you always. And I must always await you patiently.  The little piece of you reserved for me. Lighting strikes of alcohol. The lonely voices that cry in the sun.  My mouth in torturous flames. You angelically bare yourself, then part.

Again my foolish mouth land on your skin.  Your mouth returns and provokes me. Again I fall from your bosom to your two feet.  Lips that are shared, lips that are divided my love. I can not share your lips. I share in the deception. I share my days & my pain. But I can no longer share your lips.

May a lightning bolt destroy me. May forgetfulness bury me my  love, because I can no longer share your lips, share your kisses. Lips that are shared. I love you with all my faith with no restraint. I love you even if you are shared. Your lips are in control. I love you with all my faith with no restraint. I love you even if you are shared. Your lips are in control. And you continue to be in control
